Addis Ababa Minibus Replacement Project

Multiverse Enterprise PLC is spearheading the Addis Ababa Minibus Replacement Project, a major initiative to modernize the city’s public transportation system. In collaboration with the Ministry of Defense, DEIC, local banks, GETAVIN LTD, and KING LONG Buses, this project is set to enhance public transport efficiency and sustainability.

Project Overview

The project aims to replace 5,000 outdated minibuses annually with new, efficient models. This large-scale replacement effort is divided into two phases:

Year One: Fleet Modernization

• Objective: Replace 5,000 old minibuses with new models.
• Implementation: Includes the procurement, assembly, and deployment of new vehicles. The focus is on improving reliability, reducing maintenance costs, and enhancing passenger comfort.
• Impact: Modernizing the fleet will improve the reliability and comfort of public transportation, reduce operational costs, and alleviate road congestion.

Year Two: Transition to Electric Vehicles

• Objective: Start replacing diesel minibuses with electric models.
• Implementation: Involves setting up charging infrastructure, training for maintenance staff, and public education on electric transport benefits.
• Impact: Transitioning to electric vehicles will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality, and support global sustainability goals.
